Sir Henry Pierce

Biography

The crown granted Sir Henry Pierce the lands of Patrick Archbold which included Kenlestown, Coolegan (Coolegad) and sixty acres of Temple Delgany, though by 1620 Pierce only had recovered 60 acres of this land. Later Pierce granted his interest in these lands to Elizabeth Montgomery (Lady Brereton), she assigned them to the Earl of Meath, her brother, Elizabeth later married Sir John Bramston.
Sir Henry Pierce married Eleanor Stafford the daughter of Sir Francis Stafford, she was married three times firstly after his death she married to Richard Fitzwilliam son of Thomas Fitzwilliam 1st Viscount Fitzwilliam and then married Joseph Fox of Co. Tipperary. Thomasine Blayney married firstly Sir George Pierce son of Sir Henry Pierce of Shercock in the County of Cavan. In 1621 Sir Henry Pierce bought Clandeboye and the estates from Sir James Hamilton.
